4.2. Employment Regulations and Labor Laws

The Jatiya Sangsad unanimously passed the Bangladesh Labor (Amendment) Act, 2026 (converting the November 2025 ordinance into permanent law) to enhance workers' rights and resolve industrial disputes. The new act introduces several major changes, including increasing paid maternity leave for female employees from 112 days to 120 days (four months), and strictly prohibiting wage discrimination between men and women for the same work. It also clearly defines 'sexual harassment' and mandates the establishment of a woman-led grievance redressal committee in every commercial enterprise.
