How the firm works

Small firm, real files, early responsibility

You meet the client

There is no layer between you and the person whose problem it is. Juniors sit in on calls, take notes that matter, and are expected to have a view. You will not spend two years on document review before speaking to anyone.

The work is cross-border

Most of what the firm does involves someone entering Bangladesh, or a Bangladeshi business dealing with the outside world — entry structures, exchange control, treaty positions, foreign parents and local subsidiaries. It is the kind of work that makes you good quickly.

Writing is the job

Advice is written down. A memo a client can act on without a follow-up call is the standard, and it is taught here rather than assumed. If you like language, this is a good place to be.

Compliance is not the dull part

A great deal of the practice is keeping businesses out of trouble rather than arguing them out of it. Done properly it is the most commercial work in the firm, because it is what lets a client stop worrying and get on.

You are told when you are wrong

Plainly, and early enough to fix it. Nobody here should learn from a client complaint what a colleague could have told them a week earlier.

Questions people ask

Does Tuhin & Partners take applications when nothing is advertised?

Yes. Most people who joined did not answer an advertisement. Send a CV and a short note about the work you want to do, and it is read.

Do you take interns and pupils?

Yes. Several of the firm's lawyers started as interns or research assistants. Say what stage you are at and what you would like to learn.

Can I work remotely?

Some colleagues do. The firm runs on-site, hybrid and remote arrangements depending on the role and the person, and every profile on the site states which applies. Say what would work for you.

What should I send?

A CV and a few honest sentences about the kind of work you want and why. Not a covering letter written for any firm — a note written for this one.
